Flame n Bake

Arcade dodger about greed and timing: survive vicious bullet patterns from a raging furnace, scoop up biscuits, then decide — press F to continue or press E to cash out. Made for Brackeys Game Jam 2 — 2025.

How to Play

  • Move to dodge, Dash for brief i-frames, Focus to slow down.
  • Each phase lasts ~30 seconds. After it ends, there’s a short intermission.
  • Intermission choices:
    • F — Continue to the next, harder phase (BM +2).
    • E — Cash out and end the run, banking everything you earned.

Core Mechanics

  • Biscuits (Currency): The furnace drops biscuit pickups during active phases. The player’s magnet pulls them in.
  • Biscuit Multiplier (BM): Each pickup grants biscuits equal to your current BM. BM grows by +2 every time you continue.
  • Risk vs Reward: Continue for a bigger BM and tougher patterns, or cash out to secure gains.
  • Defeat: Dying forfeits all unbanked biscuits from that run.

Economy & Market

  • Unbanked biscuits are earned during a run.
  • Cash Out to convert unbanked → Banked (persistent currency).
  • Spend Banked biscuits in the Shop on upgrades and items to push further next run.

Difficulty & Patterns

  • Phases escalate in intensity; patterns speed up and layer more aggressively.
  • A Heat Lever lets you upshift difficulty mid-run for extra spice (with a short cooldown).

Loop

  1. Survive a phase and collect biscuits.
  2. Intermission: Continue (F) for BM growth and harder waves, or Cash Out (E) to bank.
  3. Repeat until greed or glory wins.
