Monetary rewards system at DevTernity

Besides being part of something big and getting eternal fame by saying "I co-organise DevTernity – the most-waited IT conference in the Baltics", DevTernity staff members are entitled for monetery rewards.

This short guide is written for staff members. The goal is to explain how contribution is assessed and profits are distributed.

Higher levels include lower levels. Level 4 includes 3, 2, 1. 3 includes 2, 1 etc.

Lower level doesn't mean worse. It's just different level of contribution.

Level 4 – Conference Lead

You contribute by taking responsibility for all critical aspects of conference organisation – speakers, sponsors, attendees, sales, marketing, financials, negotiation. It means that if you're dead, the conference is dead, too. You have skin in the game by contributing your financials and taking responsibility for reputational and financial disaster, force majeure. At this level, you're entitled for 33% of ROI, if the conference is profitable.

Level 3 – Evangelist ⭐️⭐️⭐️

You contribute by actively seeking for sponsors and new audience, pitching the conference in your network, groups, conferences. You boost conference’s credibility and contribute to sales. At this level, you’re entitled for the major % from undistributed profit pool, plus commission from your sales.

Level 2 – Staff ⭐️⭐️

You actively help preparing before the conference by engaging into Slack conversation, completing tasks assigned during Team Hangout, seeking responsibility and helping busy staff members. You come up with ideas how to improve the conference, pitch ideas to the team and make sure they are implemented in cost-efficient, timely manner. At this level, you’re entitled for a monetary compensation that depends on your engagement, contribution, and the number of staff members.

Level 1 – Volunteer ⭐️

You help preparing a day before the conference, as well as actively engage in organisation and problem-solving during the conference. At this level, you’re getting a free pass to the conference and your accommodation and travel expenses are covered.
