New Protocols

Three new protocol variants join the family:

• AIR (Autonomous Implement & Review) — Lightweight two-phase protocol for small features (<300 LOC). No spec/plan artifacts; review goes in the PR body. Skip the ceremony when you don't need it.
• ASPIR (Autonomous SPIR) — SPIR without human approval gates on spec and plan. Builder runs autonomously through all phases; human approval only at the PR gate. Trust the builder, review the output.
• EXPERIMENT — Disciplined experimentation protocol for spikes, PoCs, and research. Comes with protocol.json, templates, and structured documentation.

Workspace Overview & Dashboard

The old Dashboard is gone. In its place: a unified Work view that shows everything at a glance.

• Builders panel with real-time status, elapsed time (wall clock + agent time), and progress
• Needs Attention section surfacing pending gates, blocked builders, and stale PRs
• Analytics tab with GitHub metrics, builder stats, and consultation cost tracking via Recharts
• Open Files & Shells showing active shells (running/idle) and open annotation files

Terminal Architecture

Major reliability improvements under the hood:

• WebSocket auto-reconnect with session resumption and exponential backoff — no more lost terminals
• Connection status icon in toolbar replacing inline reconnecting text
• WebSocket ping/pong heartbeat for dead connection detection
• Persistent terminal CWD tracked in SQLite for accurate path resolution
• Architect terminal auto-restart on crash with loop guard
• Multi-client shellper — protocol extension for simultaneous tower + terminal connections
• Backpressure handling to prevent terminal unresponsiveness
• Terminal controls — Reload, End, scroll buttons
• Preserve scroll position during terminal fit/resize

Messaging

af send finally works reliably, and message delivery is now typing-aware:

• Delayed Enter delivery — writes the message first, then sends \r after 50ms so the PTY processes the multi-line paste before receiving Enter
• Typing-aware delivery — defers message delivery when the user is actively typing, flushes on idle (3s) or max age (60s)
• Push-based gate notifications via af send, replacing polling
• WebSocket message bus with subscriber management for real-time notifications
• Standardized message format with structured headers/footers and consistent agent naming

Mobile

• Fixed duplicate character input — replaced UA sniffing with pointer:coarse media query + composition event tracking, catching iPads which report desktop UA
• Collapse buttons hidden on mobile
• SSE auto-reconnect for dashboard after Tower restart

Consultation & Metrics

• Persistent consultation output — auto-saves results to project directory instead of temp files that get cleaned up mid-session
• Cost tracking with MetricsDB, per-model usage extraction, and consult stats command
• Codex SDK integration — replaced CLI subprocess with native SDK
• Rebuttal-based review advancement — porch advances after rebuttals without re-running consultation
