Welcome to the CATS-Methods-Materials wiki!
Note: To cite these tools and for more information, see the accompanying open access manuscript: https://animalbiotelemetry.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s40317-021-00256-w. If you are new to Github or Github Desktop, the "Downloading Toolkit With Github" page will help you get started with downloading the data in this repository.
This wiki is designed to give users an understanding of the processes required to take raw sensor data from a CATS tag (or similar multi-sensor biologging device) and turn it into a calibrated and workable data packet that can be freely used for subsequent analyses.
There is also a (fast-paced) video tutorial available here. (first presented at the International Bio-logging Symposium).
These processes will be updated and expanded as necessary and should be thought of as a living document that works for a stereotypical tag deployment that does not contain any major data or structural issues (though some of these may be common enough that they are automatically accounted for). If you find any errors in these documents or find any segments to be particularly confusing, I welcome your feedback (wgough@stanford.edu).
If you are working with a brand new, just-out-of-the-box CATS tag, we suggest that you work through the steps in order starting with the set up of the tag. If you have already set up the tag, calibrated it, and deployed it successfully, you should start with the initial processing steps ("Importing CATS Data") and work along from there.
