Welcome to the CriticalThink wiki!
CriticalThink is a web browser extension that provides the probability that all or some of the content contained on a current web page is false or misinformation.
One of the biggest issues we face today with content on the web is the sheer breadth of false/misinformation. When anyone and everyone can create content with such ease, and then share it to be exposed to countless interactions from others, it becomes a necessity to be able to make an informed opinion on that content. But how do you do that? Well, you would need to search what others have said about this subject, vet the people/agencies that said it, and then form your very own opinion on it based on what you found. It becomes debilitating having to constantly check if what you are reading is true, half-true, or just false. A recently conducted MIT study stated, "Analysis found that it took the truth approximately six times as long as falsehood to reach 1,500 people..." That's why CriticalThink was conceived. CriticalThink allows a user to simply have an extension that will automatically vet the content for them and give them a more informed conclusion on the bias and truthfulness that a given web page contains.
CriticalThink works by extracting a webpages content and then running the content through an artificial intelligence algorithm called Fakebox. The results returned are analyzed and displayed on the CriticalThink web browser extension.
