A Protocol and Blockchain
Block 52 is an Ethereum Layer 2 solution and protocol to facilitate trustless player to player card games over the internet, with zero knowledge and no central authority.
The Block 52 project is an implementation of several "mental poker" protocols made possible with its own proof of stake blockchain.
Block 52 will run its own public layer two sidechain that is designed to for the sole purpose of implmenting the Block 52 protocol. Unlike general purpose blockchains like Ethereum, by creating a custom blockchain, Block 52 will allow fast p2p card games to be built and run allowing anyone with an internet connction to host and play online card games.
Just like the lbry.io project has created its own chain and stack to distribute video content and pay content creators fairly without a "middle man", block 52 will do the same for online card games.
The layer 2 solution comprises of a set of primary nodes to replicate and sync the state of the network. Nodes can either be staking or non staking.
There have been attempts a generalized game, such as poker, but all suffer similar fates of
- Slow transaction times when using protocols such as Bitcoin
- High transaction fees on Ethereum and Bitcoin
- Use generalised programming languages like solidity or non turing complete and limited languages such as scrypt
