Not complete, but we should get everything merged down as @hojberg suggested.
The tests aren't passing, but the problem is in the tests (they behave as expected with manual testing). I will fix them, but we're short on time.
Sorry for the messy pull request, it has a lot of things merged together. At least it gets several branches merged down at once :-)
