I simplified the code for the matrix conversions, just used the
as.matrix()function combined with thesapply(df,as.numeric())functions.With regards to changing the names to be more informative, along what lines were you thinking? I'm not sure of a way to represent the group names so as to maker sense. Unless we just plot the grid on the map with the group number in the centre of the grid??
