Summary of Changes

Hello @a2a-bot, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request updates the A2A gRPC and JSON specification to version v0.3.0. It introduces significant changes to the API contract by marking numerous fields as required, renames several fields and methods for improved clarity, and adds new functionality such as task listing and tenant-specific routing. These updates aim to enhance the API's robustness, expand its capabilities, and align it with evolving design principles.

Highlights

  • API Specification Update: The underlying A2A specification has been updated to version v0.3.0, reflected in the src/a2a/types.py file.
  • Field Behavior Enforcement: Numerous fields across various protobuf messages (e.g., Task, Message, AgentCard, AgentSkill) are now explicitly marked as REQUIRED, tightening the API contract and ensuring data integrity.
  • Field and Message Renames: Several fields have been renamed for clarity and consistency, such as SendMessageConfiguration.push_notification to push_notification_config, TaskStatus.update to message, and Message.content to parts. Additionally, CreateTaskPushNotificationConfigRequest is now SetTaskPushNotificationConfigRequest, TaskSubscriptionRequest is SubscribeToTaskRequest, and GetAgentCardRequest is GetExtendedAgentCardRequest.
  • New Fields and Messages: New fields like Message.reference_task_ids, AgentInterface.protocol_binding, AgentInterface.tenant, and AgentCard.supported_interfaces have been introduced. Entirely new messages, ListTasksRequest and ListTasksResponse, have been added to support task listing functionality.
  • Tenant-Specific Routing: A tenant field has been added to several request messages, including SendMessageRequest, GetTaskRequest, CancelTaskRequest, and various push notification configuration requests, enabling tenant-specific API routing.
  • gRPC Service Method Updates: The gRPC service definitions have been updated to reflect the new and renamed messages and methods, including the addition of ListTasks and the renaming of existing subscription and configuration methods.
  • Python Type Hinting Improvements: The __slots__ attribute in many generated Python message classes (a2a_pb2.pyi) has been updated to () for memory optimization, and docstrings in src/a2a/types.py have been refined for clarity.

Code Review

This pull request introduces significant updates to the A2A protobuf definitions and their Python bindings. Key changes include renaming CreateTaskPushNotificationConfig to SetTaskPushNotificationConfig, TaskSubscription to SubscribeToTask, and GetAgentCard to GetExtendedAgentCard across both the protobuf messages and gRPC service methods. A new ListTasks method and corresponding request/response messages have been added to support task listing with filtering and pagination. Many fields across various messages (e.g., Task, TaskStatus, Message, Artifact, PushNotificationConfig, AgentCard, AgentSkill) have been marked as required using google.api.field_behavior annotations. Several fields have been made optional, and tenant fields have been introduced in various request messages and corresponding HTTP rules to support multi-tenancy. Field names like mime_type in FilePart were changed to media_type, and content in Message was renamed to parts, with reference_task_ids added to Message. The __slots__ definitions in the a2a_pb2.pyi type stub file were updated to reflect these structural changes.
