The client can connect to the newly created openvpn server but has no Internet access... Still trying to figure out why.

Any news about your pull request ? Is this application still maintained ?

Yop, I fixed some bugs. Still, while the VPN connection works, I can't get Internet (I can't make the traffic redirection to work).

So by the date of November 8th of the year COVID-19, it spits errors saying oh... YuNOOO! This app is likely pretty old and uses deprecated / outdated helpers that can't be migrated easily. It can't be installed anymore.
