The Autism Treatment Center is a private nonprofit whose mission is to assist those with autism and related disorders throughout their lives. Their services include educational, residential, adult programs, therapeutic (Applied Behavior Analysis, Physical, Occupational, and Speech), and research. The ATC was established in Dallas in 1976 and soon opened a second center in San Antonio in 1978. It has grown since and created many programs that address a specific need for the children and adults needing their services.
The Autism Treatment Center currently catalogs patient behavioral patterns through the use of paper and Excel spreadsheets. ATC’s therapists store many types of data on tasks performed to treat a certain behavior such as the duration, frequency, and progression rate. The end goal of the project is to migrate all the data virtually and have a HIPAA compliant, cross platform compatible, data collection application to catalog and analyze patient data.
