This is a table-top RPG.
This system is (hopefully) for a high action fantasy adventure, though I think it could be readily adapted to other genres. It is more about cinematic action than gritty realism, so characters will be able to shake themselves off after a combat, and go straight on to the next one.
The rules a simple, with quick character creation and easy maths.
It is assumed the game will be played with miniatures on a square grid.
The rules are somewhat inspired by DnD 4Ed, but slimmed down. You can find them here.
The exact rules are still to be decided, but a draft can be found here.
The emphasis is on simplicity. If you have a good idea of what you want, you can easily create a character in 10 minutes. On the other hand, I hope there are still a lot of choices - real choices where it is hard to decide which is better and choices that inspire too. If you are not sure what sort of character you want to play, you may find it hard to decide.
The basic principle is that you buy levels in a profession (up to your own level), and you get two points per level. You would probably start at around level 4, so you could be level 4 fighter, level 2 tank and level 2 shapeshifter; you could be level 4 elementalist, level 3 met-mage and level 1 shadow dancer.
Unlike DnD there are no primary stats (strength, charisma, intelligence). They are virtually never used, so why bother? All we care about are the skills, so just worry about them. And skills come with the professions.
There are no races. You can play any race you want (if it fits the game world); any bonuses have to be purchased normally. Thus, all races are perfectly balanced!
Under development here.
The world is at an early renaissance technology level, the game centred on the city of Icanio. There are weak points between our world and various other realms, and permanent portals have been built to allow movement between them.
Hosting on GitHub offers two big advantages:
- It is feee
- It tracks changes
The latter is important as the rules are in a state of change, and may change during play. Anyone can go back and check what they used to be, and compare to what they are now.
