The Anisca Decoder App is a web tool designed to decode and interpret logs from Anisca devices in the Field β especially useful when working in areas without Sigfox coverage.
Use this app whenever you're at an Anisca system in the field and:
- β You want to check if the device is working correctly (e.g. about the same amount of Status and Offset logs)
- β You need to know if a male barn owl is known to us, especially ahead of a planned capture night
- β You are not receiving data over Sigfox and must manually assess system status at the moment of being on site.
- β Just out of curiosity.
After downloading logs from the Anisca device using the Anisca App, the .txt log file is stored locally on your device (phone or tablet).
Please still upload the Files in the Anisca App as usual. The .txt can be read on site and directly give you information about the System and the Logs.
The Data uploaded via the Anisca App are not available before the next 5 p.m., which is often too late.
Also, if the Files are not uploaded to the Barn Owl Database yet, you can read High Resolution JSON Files with this decoder. Those are available on the Anisca Hub > Account.
You can then use this app to decode the file and get:
- π A summary of all logs
- βοΈ All weight detections
- 𧬠Overview of RFID and ring associations
- π οΈ Diagnostic indicators of system performance

β οΈ Display warnings if system diagnostics look suspicious
- Use the filters to focus on specific log types or time periods

If the app shows a warning (e.g. if offset or status messages are skewed), follow these steps:
