JArduino comes with a very nice and very intuitive GUI to easily experiment your Arduino board

This GUI is provided as part as the samples. Launch the main, choose the serial port and the type of Arduino board, and enjoy!

click on the ping button, your Arduino board should reply by a pong message
set PIN13 in the OUTPUT mode
send a HIGH digital value to PIN13. This should turn on the LED connected to PIN13.
