The Rugroden Wallpaper Dump

This is a collection of wallpapers I have collected over the years. When adding to the collection try to organize as best as possible into top level directories before dropping them in the root directory. Do not add subdirectories to other top level directories. As best as possible try to conform to the naming conventions of surrounding files. General naming convention rules are described below.

Wallpaper Naming Conventions

General

Filename Rules:

  • All file names must be all lower case.
  • All file names should be made up of at least 1 section.
  • All sections must be separated by underscores.
  • All file names must end in _(number).(fileExt)
  • All section names, except (collection), (color), and those that are proper nouns, should be pluralized.

Common Section Types:

  • (collection) => Collections are intended to denote items that come from a single artist.

  • (color) => Colors are intended to be a more broad grouping. multicolor is intended for 4 or more colors.

Colors: `pink`, `red`, `orange`, `brown`, `yellow`, `green`, `cyan`, `blue`, `purple`, `white`, `grey`, `black`, `multicolor`

Section modifiers:

  • ? => 0 or 1 of a section.
  • * => 0 or more of a section.
  • + => 1 or more of a section.

When in doubt, simply try to follow the conventions you see in the repo.

Abstracts

Abstracts Filename Structure:
(collection_?)(shape_+)(color_+)(number).(file_ext)
If a wallpaper is not part of a collection, or no shape or color is distinct enough, default to:
abstract_(number).(fileExt)

Notes: Like boxtail, olssons, and teund.

  • Shapes are intended to be a more specific grouping.
  • Colors are intended to be a more broad grouping.
  • multicolor is intended for 4 or more colors.
  • descriptor, and color, chaining sections should be in alphabetical order.
  • All filenames should have a number at the end.

Shapes: circles, cubes, hexagons, lines, polyscapes, squares, triangles, waves
Colors: pink, red, orange, brown, yellow, green, cyan, blue, purple, white, grey, black, multicolor

Cosmos

Cosmos Filename Structure:
(collection_?)(descriptor_+)(color_+)(number).(file_ext)

Notes:

  • Collections are intended to denote items that come from a single artist.
  • Shapes are to add specific grouping's within colors.
  • Colors are intended to be a more broad grouping.
  • multicolor is intended for 4 or more colors.
  • Shape, and color, chaining sections should be in alphabetical order.
  • All filenames should have a number at the end.

Descriptors: galaxies, nebulas, planets, quasars, stars
Colors: pink, red, orange, brown, yellow, green, cyan, blue, purple, white, grey, black, multicolor

Mobiles

Mobiles Filename Structure:
(collection_?)(descriptor_+)(number).(file_ext)

Mobile wallpaper naming is weird. Many wallpapers from other locations will end up duplicated here in a rotated state. It pulls in conventions from all other folders. As such, there may be collisions.

Notes:

  • Remove any color sections included in this grouping.
  • Descriptors of any kind should be in alphabetical order.
  • All filenames should have a number at the end.

Outrun

Outrun Filename Structure:
(collection_?)(primaryDescriptor_?)(secondaryDescriptor_?}).(file_ext)
If a wallpaper is not part of a collection, or no descriptor is distinct enough, default to: outrun_(number).(fileExt) or vaporwave_(number).(fileExt) depending on which is more accurate.

Notes:

  • Primary descriptors are intended to be more broad location types.
  • Secondary descriptors are intended to add some specifics to the location types. Not always needed.
  • Descriptor names can be anything, but as best as possible, limit and reuse them.
  • Primary, and secondary, descriptor chaining sections should be in alphabetical order.
  • All filenames should have a number at the end.

Primary Descriptors: car, outrun, vaporwave
Secondary Descriptors: car_make, beach, city, road

Outsides

Outsides Filename Structure:
(collection_?)(season_?)(_primaryDescriptor*)(_secondaryDescriptor*)(_detail*)_(number).(fileExt)

Notes:

  • Collections are intended to only be used to group a handful of similar wallpapers together, not for general use.
  • Seasons should only be used when the season is fairly obvious.
  • Primary descriptors are intended to be more broad location types.
  • Secondary descriptors are intended to add some specifics to the location types. Not always needed.
  • Detail names can be anything, but as best as possible, limit and reuse them.
  • Descriptor, and detail, chaining sections should be in alphabetical order.
  • All filenames should have a number at the end.

Seasons: spring, summer, autumn, winter
Primary Descriptors: city, desert, forest, island, lake, mountain, plains, river, sea
Secondary Descriptors: cliff, beach, courtyard, road, shore, trail
Details: bench, bridge, building, day, leaves, night, shore, steps, train, tree, waterfall, wave

Tech

Tech Filename Structure:
(collection_?)(descriptor_+)(detail_?)(color_?)(number).(file_ext)
If a wallpaper is not part of a collection, or no descriptor or color is distinct enough, default to:
tech_(number).(fileExt)

Notes:

  • Collections are intended to denote items that come from a single artist.
  • Descriptors are intended to be a more specific grouping.
  • Detail names can be anything, but as best as possible, limit and reuse them.
  • Colors are intended to be a more broad grouping within the descriptors.
  • multicolor is intended for 4 or more colors.
  • Descriptor, detail, and color, chaining sections should be in alphabetical order.
  • All filenames should have a number at the end.

Descriptors: cables, chips, circuits, anonymous, os_[osName], power
Colors: pink, red, orange, brown, yellow, green, cyan, blue, purple, white, grey, black, multicolor
