Who needs this? - Any first-time user of Quark, who wishes to avoid the lengthy block chain download through the p2p network.
If you are just getting into Quarks and started by installing the Quark wallet on your computer you may notice that the synchronization process with the Quark network is taking up quite some time. This is due to the large blockchain that has been generated so far and it will continue to grow even bigger, so besides more than 2 Gigabytes of space you need to be ready to wait a bit. There is however a clever solution that might speed thing up, you can download a bootstrap to help you import most of the blockchain locally and then synchronize with the rest of the network.
What to do guide:
- Download and install the most recent Quark wallet software quark-qt.exe, run it and then close it.
– Download the most recent bootstrap.dat file
– Copy the bootstrap.dat file to the folder %appdata%\Quarkcoin (for Windows) or in the Quarkcoin data folder for other OSes
– Run the Quark Wallet software to import most of the blockchain locally
– Importing blocks from disk.... will appear at bottom left. After import your client will continue to synchronize normally.
This will get you up to speed and running in no time. Faster than running the Quark client and waiting for it to synchronize the complete blockchain from the start to the most recent block.
