A very basic tool to parse schedules in tables as csv into Google Calendar Events
With this tool you may convert a table filled with events, names, etc, into Google Calendar Events.
Input format:
| Day/Hour | 1 | 2 |
|---|---|---|
| 12:00 | Alex | Alex, Dani |
| 13:00 | Alex | Alex, Dani |
| 14:00 | Alex | Alex, Dani |
- For every name found it will create and event that ranges from the first time it appears on a day and ends when there are no more consecutive ones.
- For example: Alex will be shown with an event on day 1 from 12:00 to 15:00
- For example: Alex and Dani will have their own events on day two, both from 12:00 to 15:00
For now the program doesn't take care of the days row and hours column so you'll have to strip them away and change some variables in the code where they are clearly indicated.
How it works?
- Make a table where each row represents an hour and each column represents a day; the program suposes they are consecutive.
- Export your table as a CSV file. F.e. with Google Spreadsheets you need a sheet with only the events, no days or hours.
- Go into the code and change the "dayInitial", "monthInitial", "yearInitial", "hora" and "location" to set: dayInitial -> first day in the schedule monthInitial -> month corresponding to the first day yearInitial -> year corresponding to the first day hora -> hour at which the first event starts location -> if you want to specify a location for your events
- Go into the code again and change the names of the files you want as input and output
- Execute the code with ruby
