Arena Setup

A YouTube tutorial of the SandFall arena setup is available here. It's highly recommended that you use this video as a guide for your arena.

About the Arena

Walls

SandFall Arenas need to first have walls surrounding them, so players cannot escape during the game. Referring to the YouTube video above, create walls for your arena. They can be of any material, and be as big or small as you'd like. They can be as tall as you want, but remember that players will need to be able to reach the ceiling in order to set it on fire.

Ceiling

Next create the wood ceiling that will support the sand, and will be burned by players during the game. The wood should only cover the inside of the arena. It is recommended to leave one block distance between the arena and the ceiling so light is allowed to enter, but you can place it as high or low as you wish.

Placing the sand for the arena is simple. Place the sand directly on top of the wood ceiling, covering it entirely. There should be enough sand high so that it will fill the inside of the arena when it falls. However, 4 blocks high of sand will successfully kill someone when it falls. Don't worry, the plugin remembers where the wood and sand are and will restore them after every match.

Once you've created the arena as per the above guidelines, move on to the command setup portion.

Setup

Selection Command

In order to make block selections for SandFall, you'll need to place the block you're attempting to select in your crosshairs and then execute the command /sfa here

To begin setup, execute the command /sfa setup [name] - where you replace [name] with the name you want to call the arena. This will begin the arena setup process.

Wall Point 1

You will first be asked to select the first point of the walls of the arena. We recommend the lowest point of the arena walls be used for the selection point 1.

Wall Point 2

You will then be asked to select the second point of the arena, being the opposite point of the first, so that the entire range of arena wall. We recommend this be the highest point on the opposite side of the selected wall point 1.

Starting Point

Now go inside the arena. You're going to mark your current location as where players will be teleported when they join the game. Stand where you'd like them to be teleported, and execute the selection command. You can be looking at any block for this, it's going to mark your current location as the starting location.

Sand Point 1

Like selecting the points for the arena walls, select the first point of the sand on top of the wood ceiling. We again recommend that this is the lowest point of the sand.

Sand Point 2

Now select the opposite point of the sand, so that the entire sand on top of the ceiling has been selected. We again recommend that this is the opposite and highest point compared to the sand point #1.

Wood Point 1

Now select one corner of the wood layer on top of the arena.

Wood Point 2

Now select the opposite corner of the wood layer on top of the arena so that the entire wood portion has been selected.

Return Point

Now go to where you'd like the players to be sent after they end their game in the arena. You're going to mark your current location as where players will be teleported when they leave the game. Stand where you'd like them to be teleported, and execute the selection command. You can be looking at any block for this, it's going to mark your current location as the return location.

Setup Complete

Once you've selected the return point, you'll get a confirmation message from SandFall informing you that the arena was setup successfully. You can now begin to add auto-updating join signs for the arena and/or play within the arena.

#Sign Setup ##Join Signs SandFall signs are auto-updating join signs that display the current arena information for players. These look great in a game lobby. Players can click the signs to automatically join an arena, and the signs will continue to update during a match to give game statistics and updates.

Creating Signs

On a blank sign, make the first line read [SandFall] and the second line be the name of the arena (in lower case) you'd like to attach the sign to.

Leave line 3 & 4 are blank. If done properly, you will receive a confirmation message and the sign will update with colors.
