East London is pretty much where all the cool kids hang out.
- Brick lane (Bar 1001, Roughtrade East, Great Indian food), Old street)
- Dalston (Passing clouds, The Haggerston pub, Vortex jazz club, Great Vietnamese food)
- Hackney fields, Broadway market, Bethnal Green are my old hang outs.
There is always cool random stuff happening in East London. Exhibitions, mad parties, live music, markets, great food, street art, nice parks…. East London is home to London’s most interesting art and music scene. Very creative and considered the ‘alternative’ part of town, even though everyone lives there now. Awesome vintage clothing, music and book shopping around the East London markets and little shops.
All the tourist stuff is in central and west London. I would recommend going up the shard for the ultimate view of London. http://www.theviewfromtheshard.com/ I took my mum up there and it almost brought us to tears the views were so awe inspiring. Go up just before sunset to see the see London day transform into London by night. Magic!
Being a North London girl, I very rarely venture South of the river – However, it has become very cool of late. Brixton is worth a visit for the makers markets, Ritzy picture house and the burgeoning bar scene. Corsica studios in Elephant and castle is a good spot for parties and live music and Clapham is pretty in parts.
Good websites to check out things happening in the next few months are: Time Out London –obvs.
