Fixes #721 This change allows (additional) `*.dts` files to reference Linux Kernel `*.dts` files and/or preprocessor macros.
This makes it possible to build on both aarch64 and x86_64 without editing the nerves_defconfig.
At some point in time, crash dumps stopped working due to the missing timeout. Given that these come in handy every once in a while, add the missing environment variable to avoid having to remember that no dumps are made without it.
Somehow this causes circuits_gpio to be compiled for host rather than target. Rather than debug, comment this out for now.

Serial numbers previously were limited to 4 characters everywhere. This changes the configuration so that they're only limited for hostnames where there's some benefit of making them easier to type. Everywhere else can use the whole serial number or decide what part of it they want.
