An updated version of my original game.
A simple top down action game for the original Game Boy (DMG). Made with GBDK Version 4.3.0. Aims to run on original hardware. This code is not optimized, especially the tiles and tile management still could be better.
You are a pirate captain who has just arrived to a small port town. But the locals you are not as lively as you expected them. Armed with your trusty anchor and cannon Bessie, you try to eliminate as many of them as you can!
- Gameplay Tweaks to make it easier (NEW MODE). If you want, you can still play with the original balancing without these changes (ORIGINAL).
- Enemies drop health items now
- Enemies move slower To compensate, there are now four instead of three enemies on screen.
- Shorter waves enemies per screen now (6+[random 0-4] instead of 8+[random 0-4])
- Healing rooms now heal you completely instead of one health only.
Changes for both modes include:
- Ammo refill rooms now appear. In NEW MODE, they refill all your ammo. In Original, they add one.
- Rooms don't repeat anymore. A new room is guaranteed after clearing a room.
- More room layouts (from 6 to 12)
- More ROM space with MBC5 Banking
- Various bug fixes
D-Pad: Move character
A Button: Use anchor (melee attack)
B Button: Shoot cannon
Start Button: Start/Pause game
Adjust paths to GDBK and your favourite emulator if necessary and run the make file or compile.bat. You can use compile.bat -nostart To just compile the game.
