Adding this would have made the ongoing simulations even more complex and cause large lags if not done in an optimized way, which would require huge amounts of work. It may come later, if I find time to create and optimize it well enough to run smooth.

No. This has mainly 2 reasons: First, making and managing many small mods takes a lot extra work. Second, many features of Terra are tied together and separating those is a lot of work, even more when making all those to be freely remixable.
Probably later. The old plan was to add the most important options with the first release, but because it takes time to add those, it got cut for now.
For now the main goal it so make Terra a mod which works well on its own. Compatibility patches come later, but it's not always a matter of patching from thsi side. Some mods are just coded badly, they would work if they use the "common style" instead of some weird exotic hacking code, which other mod developers need to fix. (Like it is currently the case with some floor mods.)
Some textures are simple placeholders to get the mod done faster. They may get replaced later when I get a better texture. My artist skills are limited. I did some of the textures myself, others were contributed from different artists and each have their own artstyle. If you think there is a texture you can do better and want to contribute, feel free to contact me.
