This project shows what actors have been in movies together. This dataset only considers movies not TV shows or other media. You also cannot see the name of the movie that they share which would've been a nice feature.
run VisualisingIMDb.exe
compile with
make
then run ./VisualisingIMDb.o
File -> Open -> customSet.tsv (for full dataset, takes a more powerful computer)
Click on actors to show their connections
Metrics:
- Size of bubble - Actor recognisability (calculated by sqrt(number of movies) * average rating)
- Colour of bubble - Genre
- X axis - Date of birth
- Y axis - Number of connections
Note: Actors that don't have their date of birth listed will all be shoved in 2030.
That's why there's a ton of people there, they are not actually from the future.
Keybinds:
Click and drag - Move the view
Arrow keys - Move the view (hold shift to go faster)
A - View all
W - Toggle connection rendering
C - Toggle connection names
Space - toggle starfield view
