Welcome to the CodingForLawyers wiki!

Overview

The motivation of this project has arisen following a series of conferences, meetups, and other personal experiences with the common goals of making both lawyers and the legal system more efficient and more accessible for our community. The project was truly operationalized after @bryangw1 and @CSBCounsel met for coffee in late August.

Since that meeting, the group has established course materials, a meeting time, and course goals. Weekly assignments will be updated below:

Course Materials

For now we are using the content from Automate the Boring Stuff and the instructional videos from Udemy. Automate the Boring Stuff is a free resource. The videos from Udemy are written by the same guy who wrote Automate the Boring Stuff, have a list price of $50.00, and can be found at a discount for 25.00 here.

Meeting Time

6:00 pm on Tuesdays at Think Big

Course Goals

On an individual level, we hope that each participant comes away from this project with a working knowledge of Python demonstrated through a series of projects. On a group level, we hope this project will be able to serve as a set of guidelines for other Legal Hackers groups seeking to provide a resource for lawyers interested in code.
