What is Readeer?

Readeer is a platform for exchange of children's books in your neighbourhood. Currently available only in Belgium.

Will it be useful for me?

Yes, if:

• You are a parent who wants to give away books when children outgrow them.

• You are a parent who lives abroad and experiences difficulty finding books for family reading in your mother tongue.

• You want to involve your children in sharing activities, to socialize them.

• You want to connect with some other family and find friends for your child to speak their mother language with.

• You are a child who likes to read and finds it fun to exchange books with peers.

Goals of the project

Readeer promotes reading and exchange of children’s books and can be used both by parents and children.

Social benefits

We think that using a book swap app is a nice way to involve children into sharing and exchanging activity as a part of socialization.

Another goal is to make books more accessible: if you came from a different country, you may not be able to buy a book in your language or to find it in a library. But our app can help you.

It is quite possible that you will find new acquaintances and friends for you and your child in your neighbourhood.

Saving money

Books are getting more expensive, so exchange is a way to cooperate and help each other to save money. Instead of standing in the bookcase for years after reading, a book can bring joy to other children.

Care for the environment

As you know, printing books requires cutting trees, which is not good for nature and climate. But also, books are completely reusable. Thus, book sharing is an ecological way to live.

How to use the app?

• To use the app you have to create an account.
• Add books that you want to exchange to your profile.
• Search for interesting books in your neighborhood.
• Did you find something interesting? Offer a swap to the owner of the book or request to take it away!
• Contact the book owner to set up the swap meeting somewhere in the neighborhood.

Terms and agreements

• You can not sell books here. Readeer can only be used for book swaps and giveaways. The app usage is completely free of cost.
• Readeer was created for local swap by personal meeting. We do not provide a possibility to process the postal exchange.
• We encourage book exchange between children but for safety reasons we strongly recommend to use it only under parents’ control.
• It is not allowed to use the app for spam and advertising.
• Be respectful to other users. In case of abuse, report it to us.
