Reformulating questions
Using #1, we are trying to refine the formulation of research questions.
- What happens to the slope of a linear model as study progresses in maturity?
- When does the linear model begin breaking down?
- How do different measures react to wave inclusion? (cognitive, physical, combination, clusters?)
- Is the instability in slope a function of within person change or features of the study (attrition, enrollment patterns)?
- what is the appropriate design to capture the shape and rate of change in studies with ongoing data collection and/or continuing enrollment?
Ideas / words
- window of time on person's lifespan
- informing expectation about your analysis
Important factors
- number of waves ( and other features of temporal design)
- age
- type of measure
Basic question we can start with
- Would the conclusions drawn about cognitive change have been different had we analysed the MAP data at different points of the study's lifespan.
