Hello Makers! Cypress is excited to be part of FirstBuild's Hack The Home event. We'll be on-hand with a number of our PSoC-based development kits (along with some local technical support).

In particular, our PSoC4 family (a 48-MHz CortexM0 microcontroller with programmable analog and digital resources on-chip) is a perfect fit for quick prototyping ... not to mention the fact that the dev kits are available in both Arduino form factor (i.e. shield compatible) as well as an embedded "stick of gum" format with a nice USB-UART serial connection to RPi. Oh, and we also have BLE versions as well.

Here are some quick links to check them out:

With any of the PSoC devices, you can quickly add a nice CapSense touch sensing UI to your design (check out this FirstBuild link - https://firstbuild.com/blog/post/update-backsplash-116/230/) and/or some capacitive proximity sensing ... think "wake on approach". Maybe some "touch-less" features or gesture recognition would really set your design apart.

Got some unique sensors? The analog features inside PSoC are more than enough to build an AFE to interface them to your design. You can review all the features here - http://www.cypress.com/psoc4/?source=CY-ENG-HEADER

The tool chain (PSoC Creator) is easy to learn and easy to use. It's a free download ... http://www.cypress.com/psoccreator/

We'll also have some of these:

CapSense Proximity Shield - http://www.cypress.com/?rid=100752

Shield adapters - http://www.cypress.com/?rID=89645

USB-Serial - http://www.cypress.com/?rID=84125

Let me know if there are other Cypress goodies you'd like to see at the event.

Thanks,

..... David
