#Project Description #A Concept Generator Website ##Description A fully designed functional list randomizing website tailored for creatives. The site will use algorythms to create randomly generated combinations of words. It will allow up to 5 word combinations for extended customization. Users can choose from pre-made lists or generate their own lists. The website is designed to help creatives stay sharp with their medium or practice of choice. It will be free to use. ##How It Works The website pulls a random word from wordlists chosen by the user. Wordlists can be anything from descriptive (running, ugly, blue, wrinkled, etc.) to a name, place, organization, or creature ( sh, pi- rate, forest, incorporated). The website then places a specified random number of words in the order chosen by the user. For example, if the user chooses from, Colors/Occupations/Animals, he or she could receive Blue/Fish/Pirate. If the user selects, Moods/Birds/Organizations, he or she could receive Angry/Toucan/Diner. The user can then incorporate this element into a sketch, painting, creative writing exercise, etc. The only limit is the imagination of the creative person. Users will be able to choose up to 5 modifiers in the concept modifiers, but use as little as 2 if desired. ##Applications ###Concept Artists Helps artists by giving them random concepts to visually express. Designers Helps designers practice communicating ideas or concepts and establishing brand identities. Writers Helps writers practice taking ideas from concept to eshed out stories. ###3D Programmers Helps programmers stay sharp with coding and concept design. ###Film makers Use concept generator to spark ideas for lms or to create characters to t in stories. Literally anyone who wants to hone skills and practice communicating a concept. ##How will this relate to my thesis studies? This will be an example of how vector illustration can be used effectively in the area of website design. I want to incorporate vector illustration into the design of the website itself to serve as a frame for the creativity inspiration available in the site, and to keep it from looking too technical and mathematical. The problem that I have seen with other sites like this is that most of them lack a lot (if any) of design elements and aesthetics. I want this site to marry both excellent vector based design and technical aspects. ##Site Layout The site needs a home page, an about page, a page for listing all wordlists, and a gallery page. A challenge that needs to be overcome is how to show the lists and the generator at the same time without confusing the user, and a way to easily add and remove lists to the generator. ##Ultimate Goal The ultimate goal of this project will be to have both a website and an app available for free use by anyone. The website will be the litmus test to determine if the app can be a success. The app will not be a part of the class project, but must be taken into consideration when designing the website itself.
