A social media for developer made by developer

A social media platform built with Django, allowing users to create profiles, share projects, and like each other's work. This project is designed to provide a simple yet effective interface for connecting users and showcasing their projects.

Getting Started

To get a local copy of this project up and running, follow these steps:

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.x
  • pip (Python package installer)
  • Virtual Environment (recommended)

Installation

  1. Clone the repository:

    git clone https://github.com/your-username/your-repo-name.git
    cd your-repo-name
  2. Create a virtual environment (optional but recommended):

    python -m venv venv
    source venv/bin/activate  # On Windows use `venv\Scripts\activate`
  3. Install the required packages:

    pip install -r requirements.txt

    Make sure to include Pillow in your requirements.txt for handling images:

    Pillow
    
  4. Run migrations: Before you start the application, you need to create the necessary database tables. Run:

    python manage.py makemigrations
    python manage.py migrate
  5. Create a superuser: To access the Django admin panel, create a new admin user:

    python manage.py createsuperuser
  6. Run the development server: Start the Django development server with:

    python manage.py runserver
  7. Access the application: Open your browser and go to http://127.0.0.1:8000/ to view the application.

Usage

  • Users can register, log in, and create a profile.
  • They can add projects with descriptions and images.
  • Users can like projects and view profiles of other users.
