All About Users and Contacts

There are two kinds of Users in a Voluble - Contacts and full-fledged Users.

Users

A User is a person who engages with Voluble on the behalf of an Organization. They can use the Voluble platform to send and receive messages from the Organization's Contacts, add and remove Contacts, and if they're an admin for the Organization, they can change the Organization's profile and billing strategy too.

Contacts

A Contact isn't the same as full-fledged Voluble User. Contacts are the people who Users can send messages to and receive them from, but can't log in to Voluble. We don't have any identity management for Contacts, we simply store their contact details (name, phone number, etc.) on the behalf of a User. This means that a User can send messages to a Contact without the Contact personally having to sign up to Voluble. If you're wondering how a Contact's consent is enforced, see more in our brief data collection guide.
