Ejabberd 23.01 contains a bug causing the outcast affiliation to be without effect for moderated MUC rooms. That's fixed in ejabberd 23.10.

I'm a bit hesitant to move along with this, as it'll make the setup much less robust: It's very likely the ejabberd version in Debian backports will be updated from time to time, breaking the setup and making it not easily reproducible anymore. We also can't just blindly install the latest version from backports either, as that might have breaking changes, which require adjustments or migrations. |
