Ive been using m.p. for a little while trying to see how it would be to replace my local firewall with it. Its so close.. One thing thats hard with using it however is getting to where one can react to notifications. The program has a multitude of settings available making it powerful, since Im on the free version so far I have fewer options open to me and its still a lot. The initial wizard is a good idea. Then in use it falls short in useability.

There can be a large number of notifications and pop-ups telling you something is changing. Particularly the toast notifications are almost worse than useless as they have no way to respond to them. When it indicates something has changed or been undone thats good, when I cant then use that notification to modify that action, thats bad, and thats the situation we have here. Hopefully we know exactly where to navigate to the obscurely named rule that we're notified by, open up the window and navigate to it.

Also some kind of visual icon indicator for when firewall blocking activity is taking place would be useful. I have a an old personal firewall that does this. It flashes its tray icon red when items are blocked. While m.p. has logs and lists it isn't handy to be able to see that activity is taking place, or what exactly just occurred. I can tell for example that my Chrome has been somehow blocked even though Ive explicitly set the main executable to allowed. Then finding out which other process is being blocked causing an overall problem then becomes a scavenger hunt. There may be a live history list of performed actions, but I havent seen it with some amount of looking.

Like the general idea.. looking fwd to how this develops.
