Dupe that worked before suddenly doesn't: sv_clipboard.lua:1419: attempt to index a nil value

Hiya, I did try to search the closed issues for this exact error message but I couldn't find it. I'm not very familiar with github because I'm not that much of a code person but since the workshop page doesn't have discussions I figured I had to create an issue here to try troubleshooting opening this file.

Essentially this dupe has worked perfectly fine for a while and I haven't made any changes to my subscribed addons, for example or installed games that could have caused an asset to go missing and I'm not sure this error message indicates that either. The only change I can think of is the dupe might use HL episode content and they did roll the episodes into the HL2 executable but I don't see how that could be an issue, either?

In game it seems to paste the entire dupe no problem but the split second that the pasting progress bar finishes, the entire dupe disappears with no trace, and it notifies about the sv_clipboard thing.

Hi, I downloaded what I believe is the latest version from the official github link instead of the workshop version I had installed and besides the fact that the paste took longer than with the workshop version it seems like the only real difference is the number after sv_clipboard.lua, 1480.

According to the line number 1419, you were on a really old version so it's not a recent change that caused the error.

So for all intents and purposes, I'm screwed? Darn.

I did find another dupe that gives the same error that wasn't in the same folder and is way older than the one I attached and is not part of the same "family" of dupes (aka not an older version of the same project). I can't think of any connection with the two besides them being ghost train rides, as a concept.

So then the dupe is not corrupted, I guess? What could cause the error on my end if you have any idea, a missing game file, a broken addon?

The only thought I have is that the paths for the models for HL2 Episode content are different now due to the episodes being merged into the main game and since I've fully uninstalled the episodes and reinstalled HL2 after the merge, it's unable to post dupes with episode content, or something. But I don't know about the inner workings of the addon so of course, I don't know.

Well, the line that's erroring is in a section that only runs if 'preserve frozen state' is checked. Are you doing that? If not then the line numbers still don't make sense and you have a bad version of advdupe2 installed. Maybe make sure you don't have the workshop one installed and make sure you only have one copy of the latest version in your addons folder.

I was able to open the file with the "preserve frozen state" checkbox off, but that didn't even occur to me as an issue given it never presents an issue, ever, on any other file and it didn't use to present an issue with this file either until when I opened this issue. Of course, then I had to painstakingly unfreeze every single small prop, thruster, etc etc in the file since I couldn't use frozen states and a bunch of ragdolls were completely screwed up, but at least it opened, I guess?

Just still a mystery why that checkbox became an issue. After unfreezing everything as need be and replacing the screwed up ragdolls, I further modified it a little bit by adding new scares/scenes to the layout, saved it again, and this new version opens no problem even with preserve frozen state.

Alright, yeah I'm not sure how that part got corrupted, but luckily it works again after doing that.
