Urgently support HDR based on P3 gamut, and defer HDR based on Rec.2020 gamut.

I want to criticize ColorWeb Community Group for focusing on making grand promises about the Rec.2100 canvas, pre-selling and overselling a concept that has not yet been fully realized and whose realization is still uncertain, instead of developing a feasible set of specifications for cutting-edge HDR display technologies (such as the P3-D65 ST 2084, available on Apple XDR displays).

We know that it takes nearly 20 years to envolve from sRGB (1996) monitors to Display P3 (2015) monitors, I assume it may take another 20 years to envolve from Display P3 monitors to Rec.2020 monitors, maybe year 2034?.

There are already professional mastering monitors and consumer TVs with near full BT.2020 coverage, and a first consumer monitor and with 100% BT.2020 coverage was announced just days before CES. There's no point dragging the feet when BT.2020 is a reality today, otherwise the spec will be updated only by 2034.

If anything, full ACES colour space support is needed in the near future. Once nano LEDs will leave prototype stage in a few years time, BT.2020 will be old news, let alone DCI-P3.
