Latest beta firmware show values in broadcast data…any ideas how to read this?

The latest beta version (e.g SmartShunt or SmartSolar) send the current measurements via broadcast data. Which means you can read them without connecting to the device. What a great feature.

the only bummer: the data is encrypted. According to Victron staff, the key for decryption is exchanged when you connect to the device via the Bluetooth app.

I have no clue how you could start analyzing the data and maybe find a way to get the key.

maybe someone is motivated enough to have a closer look?!

I don't have access to any of the devices atm. - not sure I can help much.
Maybe ask the Victron Staff which message contains the decryption key, then we could look for that ^^
Last time I decoded the protocol with time-synchronized wireshark packet-traces & a video of the UI showing the current values. The decryption key is not, by any chance, visible in the app?

But I must say, sadly, this doesn't replace reverse engineering the full victron.connect protocol, since it contains only very few values.
So, I suggest closing this issue, since it is a different thing than this repo here is about.
