How to chose te right device if you have more devices in the same plant

I'm using Gowatt for a while with a SPA3000. And it works flowless. In the meantime my solar inverter got broken and i bought a growatt solar inverter. Because i've got to devices in 1 account, the SPA doesn't recieve the command correct any more. When the sun is down, the SPA is working fine. But when the sun is up it seems the charge command is not sended to the right device.

Is it'possible to sent the charge commands only to a device with a specific "device SN".
Can you tell me how i can do this?

I tried to keep the API simple, but I do understand your problem.

Basically the members:

deviceType, deviceSN, datalogSN

Need to become arrays and then the APIs have an optional index number (defaults to 0) to reference the correct device index wherever those members are used.

You'll see a comment on line 222 of gowatt.py:

# TODO: can support multiple devices here - if needed

All the indexed items in data need to become indexes in those arrays, plus an access function to return the number of devices found.

When I have some spare time, I can make that change. Or you can do the above yourself if you desperate for it.

I'm not a very good programmer. I tried to give it a go with you're directions. But i doenst got a clue what to do. For the meantime i made a second Growatt account to split both systems.

I've updated the code with support for deviceSN optional arguments across all appropriate APIs.

You can either use your known deviceSN strings, or the function getDeviceSNlist() to get the list of known device serial numbers for use with then APIs.

thanks for you're quick update. I tried to test the script. But i think i'm doing someting wrong. In my own script i introduces the rule string "devicesSN = ('xxxxxxxx');

When i try to give my SPA3000 a charge command i get the next error.

The problem doesn't occur for me, so I need to think through what's failing for you. Incidentally, you'd typically use session.getDeviceSNlist() and work of the multiple deviceSNs you have ... or hard code to them as the SNs won't change.

For me a 'panel/getDevicesByPlantList' from the growatt server returns:

The line of the error suggests that the post() in the function failed.

e.g. data didn't contain a dictionary. I suggest you first check your plantId is correct using getPlantId(). Then check to see whether you have an object on the website client page (you'd use to check your system state online) called panel/getDeviceByPlantList.

The problem I have is I don't have a multiple device setup, so I can't tell what the website is returning in those situations. I assumed (maybe incorrectly) that the PlantList would be showing multiple devices.

I can fix the bug easily:

However while that'll make the library stable, it's not going to solve your problem. Go into the browser, open the Inspector using the right-click context menu and search (ctrl+f) for panel/getDevicesByPlantList. If you don't have it, then that's the issues:

when i use inspect i see"url:'/panel/getDevicesByPlantList' just like you're screen test.

But when i use you're plain gotest.py i see at the end the next error:

okay - so that might not a bug - one of the rules failed to set (e.g. no response), which may simply be as your device doesn't have that rule in it or communication failed. You can try it again and see if it sets.

I wonder if you also have unstable communication with the device.

The problem with the rule setting in generate is its a rather blunt tool on the growatt server, it expects a series of bytes without any fields or labelling. Meaning that if you have something that expects a different sequence, things go wrong.

I'm aware of "spa" and "mix" as devices. I have a "spa", which checks out fine.

Try setting the equivalent rules on the website and see if it sets consistently. Can't think of anything else to try tbh.

The strange thing is, that if i login with my windows (Edge) on server.growatt.com the screen is partly empty. When i login with safari on a ipad i see the figure with the power streams around. Recently Growatt update the firmware of my SPA3000. So maybe i have to do a reset.

it does sound odd - it has been known for growatt servers to return or behave differently. You could try changing the order of this list so it starts with a different one in the this. Sometimes its region dependent.
