Error message in the vic plugin UI:

Failed to verify the vic-machine server at endpoint https://192.168.1.21:8443. Possible causes:

The VIC appliance VM is running, but unreachable due to network misconfiguration.
The VIC appliance VM is up, but the API endpoint is unreachable. Possible issues include, but are not limited to:
    Network misconfiguration
    Firewall rules
    API endpoint is down
Your browser may be blocking the connection because of an untrusted certificate. View API directly in your browser to see if any warnings are presented.

Request/response, including headers (from the browser's developer tools).

Steps to reproduce:
Followed steps to deploy the vic appliance using guide here:
https://vmware.github.io/vic-product/assets/files/html/1.5/vic_vsphere_admin/vi_reqs.html

  • Configured all hosts to allow correct firewall ports
  • ntp configured and common storage configured for all hosts
vic appliance installs correctly - able to access appliance configuration page, and management portal page

Actual behavior:
plug-in for vSphere Integrated Containers has error messages cited above, displayed in red box on the plug in page in vcenter UI

  • tried logging out and signing back in to vcenter UI 2x per the install guide
  • clicking on link in UI "View API directly in your browser" opens web page to address of vic server https://192.168.1.21:8443/container/hello
however I am getting a 404 page not found error here
Tried this in 2 different browsers and tried multiple attempts at deploying vic appliance in case an error was made -

Expected behavior:
After install and configuration of VIC appliance, plugin does not show errors in red box
in vcenter UI
