We are trying to make Den accessible for everyone, people using GitHub and those not aligning with GitHub policies or not having a way to contribute here.

Where to send Pull-Requests.

I have no problem taking PR from either GH or tangled.org (see bellow for links). CI Pipelines still run only at GitHub actions, since we need to validate on both linux and darwin systems until we have custom macos runners at tangled.

AI rant

However take in mind that if you contribute code to my libs, merging will mirror your code into our GitHub repo and thus M$ and other use-ai-or-go-away big-corps will be able to use it to train AIs. Perhaps any publicly accessible codeforge is crawlable by them (sadly) and we want to keep creating stuff for other people openly. In a better world we should be able to tell AI robots not to index some parts of the code, or give the correct credit/licensing attribution. I'm sad AI corps don't mind about the time and effort humans have put into the content that is being used for AIs.

Where to report Issues / Feature-Request.

Best way to raise an issue is to first talk to people involved in the project and related libraries, so maybe others have workaround or we can help identify if there's something actionable we can do about it. Use the following channels for contact:

Communication channels

I (vic) prefer public / async / searchable communication. GitHub Discussions have served well since we started. It is useful that we can mark answers and pin stuff, have release-threads, and have those publicly available / search-engine indexable for others to find things discussed in the past. We also have a Zulip Chat kindly sponsored by Zulip. I've also started to use matrix, I'm @vborja:matrix.org over there, and we have a #den*:matrix.org channel.

Mirrors

Any push to the tangled.org/oeiuwq.com repos is mirrored to GitHub. I'm trying to get used to tangled, I like that it uses nix natively for runners, however we still depend on GitHub for macos tests.

Cool! I am curious why Zulip instead of Matrix, I personally prefer to use Matrix

To me Matrix is more akin to real-time presence, like when we all used IRC and people had irc-archives for reading what they missed, Discord (as far as I know lacks searchable history). I very much prefer async communication as I'm constantly switching on/off from tasks/projects. To me Zulip feels more like a forum (I was also considering Discourse) and has the best of both worlds, it can be used async/sync, people can keep live conversations or have them async.

I still have to discover how to allow anonymous (guest) people to post in Zulip, I see there's an option for managing guests in Zulip, being behind a registration wall is more likely to reduce spam which is a good thing. Anyways, lets see how it goes with Zulip, and we can use anything else if the community grows. For now, Zulip is our replacement for GH Discussions :)
