`Points` can Points cast shadows or not?

Not sure quite about this, see e.g.: mrdoob/three.js#13749

Also: none of the THREE.Points examples on the three.js page feature Points shadows and I don't see them using anything else but PointsMaterial.

If they cannot cast shadows: Points component's castShadow (+ receiveShadow?) attribute would be obsolete
This should be pointed out in the three.js documentation.
