Updates

The team updated Jessica on our work so far:

• Tyler has been updating the ICESat-2 mission overview tutorial with new information on satellite lifespan. He uploaded all the graphics used for the tutorial to Zenodo to be referenced there directly from the notebook.
• Ben is updating the data access tutorial. The SlideRule team made an update to accommodate an issue he encountered. We'll eventually need to get those updates on to CryoCloud.
• We shared the work that Michalea has done to package https://pypi.org/project/grimpfunc/. Next steps are to issue a PR to conda-forge.
• Zach shared about his work leading a Science Task Groups which focuses on things that are of benefit to NASA Goddard as a center, or things that might jump-start a future proposal. The STG is "SnowPit" and the team has compiled the existing datasets for snow studies (https://github.com/zachghiaccio/SnowPit/tree/development). The team is interested in building a cookbook along the lines of our ICESat-2 cookbook.
• Jessica talked about the requests from NASA leadership for community feedback coming out of our collective efforts: what could NASA be doing to facilitate data access and collaboration? She suggested we explore publication options early so we can begin formatting content for a future paper.

Planned Work

• Ben and Tyler continuing on their tutorials.
• Anthony to set up a draft cookbook for the snow community.

Summary of Accomplishments

• Deployed the Pythia template over to the SnowEx repo: https://github.com/SnowEx/snow-cookbook. Next will begin customizing for snow tutorials.
• Possible publication at PNAS? https://www.pnas.org/author-center/submitting-your-manuscript#article-types
• Tyler issued a PR for mission overview tutorial - team to review
• Ben made progress on notebook and recreated the attempt to use earthaccess so we can document for others to review
• Zach worked on notebook for UAVSAR (retrieving SWE). Noting that the hackweek tutorials have out-of-date packages, so working to reconcile.
• Jessica started putting together notes on outcomes we want from the HW, potential places to submit a paper. Would like to set up somewhere in the HW github discussions on links/notebooks like Ben's example. This is content that showcases challenges, etc, collecting all in one place.
