Today we worked on laying a foundation for our future tutorial curation efforts. We agreed that the Pythia template is a good framework, noting that their GitHub actions on deployment seem useful to help us create consistent and functioning content. We noted we can always switch platforms if later we find this framework is not working for us.

We merged ICESat-2/icesat2-cookbook#3 which was there just for illustration purposes, but it had an updated environment.yaml file that we wanted to be in main for everyone to see.

Tutorial leads can feel free to create additional subfolders in \notebooks\draft\ to store working content. Our agreed workflow is to create a separate branch for each tutorial and submit this as a PR when you are ready for review. Then eventually the final tutorial will live in the root notebooks folder. Remember that each tutorial needs to follow the template here https://github.com/ICESAT-2HackWeek/icesat2-cookbook/blob/main/notebooks/notebook-template.ipynb.

We worked on authenticating Git locally using the gh command line tool. Documentation on this is on our hackweek template page (https://snowex-2024.hackweek.io/preliminary/git.html#authenticating-with-github).
