The name of this project is something that came up when discussing with my good friend @lucasdemarchi. We were talking about creating a simple text-based tool to report GPU usage and leverage the recent specs for DRM clients reporting via fdinfo files in /proc. We thought of doing it in Rust as a learning exercise, use colored gauges and some charts, and something that we'd say "how cool!". Since we're both from Brazil we thought of naming it after an expression we use when something is very nice, "q top!", also since it's a top-like tool. However, that would probably have folks thinking it was in Qt or clash with so many other tools that have "top" in the name. Then we thought of using another Brazilian expression with the same "how cool!" meaning, "q massa!". @lucasdemarchi, anything more to add or correct in this story? :-D Note: the "q" in "q massa!" is an abbreviation commonly used online for "que" in Brazilian Portuguese. |
