[Calisphere] Metadata updates to individual S3 records: OAC METS use case

We have cases of legacy OAC-based METS objects that are in Calisphere that need metadata updates -- where those objects are still the primary "version of record". The contributor does not have the objects hosted elsewhere.

We also have cases of single-item metadata update requests from researchers and contributors, where we don't yet have a Rikolti-based fetcher/mapper in place to readily re-harvest (e.g., PastPerfect).

We'd like to 1) edit the metadata in S3, and 2) kick off a reindex to pick up the changes -- aka,, Edit-and-Forget It.

UCB Library would like to update the metadata for a legacy METS record in OAC. We don't yet have the OAC fetcher/mapper (and have deprioritized this, given our plan to decommission all legacy METS with OAC 5.0).

What kind of interim strategy could we support with updating items, in the meantime?

• Remove the collection from OAC and CSphere (until we can reharvest from TIND)
• Manually edit of the mapped JSON
• Re-prioritize work on a single-item CSphere removal process, and remove the individual item (until we can reharvest the entire collection from TIND)
• Other ideas?

Per team discussion, we want to focus our effort on either establishing a reharvest pipeline to the contributor's new platform -- or otherwise implementing a one-off item removal process (which is more extensible to takedown requests)

Re-opening this ticket. We have 2 contributors (Santa Ana Public Library and Albany Library) with legacy OAC METS, which were harvested to Calisphere. They do not have any extant versions of these objects in a local DAMS -- the "version of record" are the objects in Calisphere.

The collections have items needing metadata updates. We'd like to revisit the "edit-and-forget-it" idea again, for this particular use case.
