Leadership #24

Please do not post any other issues until we have this resolved, we really need to organize tightly before we make any further advances
Even though the whole discussion with Sircmpwn & co went out of hand, I agree with him that there does not seem to be leadership. I am not trying to blame anyone or anything for that but it's just a simple fact: we need a central focal point, a leader. Someone that knows his stuff and is capable of following and keeping up to date with all the code.

Before anyone thinks I'd try to get myself in that position, I would not ask for it, nor want it. I know that I have far too little knowledge to be in such a position.

So, getting to the gist of it: who'd put himself forward to lead the project? Some of the responsibilities would include:

  • Managing WHO will be coding WHAT.
  • Managing WHAT will be coded WHEN.
  • Managing the master branch, no merging until everything is compatible.
  • You are basically a walking wikipedia, you should be able to answer anyone's questions about the project and point them to the right documentation.
  • Enforce consistancy, especially in documentation of functions and things like pushing/popping so that registers keep preserved.

Those things ^ come to mind, there may be more. It's quite a heavy job so make sure that you have enough time on your hands!

P.S. I first thought I'd "propose" this but, I would like to see if we can pick up the pace and actually get some sort of leadership/establishment in place that the rest of us can poll if we need project information.
