Suggestion of search category #225

I saw that for the search function in the TLS, an "everything" tab was recently added. This is a great addition (though it does not yet seem to be fully functional as of now; I have attached a screenshot of what I perceive to be display errors); however, I have one more request for a search category, namely a search by "(traditionally ascribed) author" where applicable.

This, I believe, is relevant for a number of reasons:

  1. Traditional ascriptions of authors in the Buddhist sector are often inaccurate; however, one would still benefit from the access to the information because it would invite the user to look for patterns between different texts ascribed to the same author (potentially to falsify the ascription on linguistic grounds?) and make for a good part of the anthology of multiple kinds of information that the database is.
  2. It would make it possible to raise the question of what exactly constitutes an author - for example, it is quite clear that Confucius is not the author of the Lunyu in the traditional sense, but if the sayings in it were supposedly uttered by him, does that warrant partial credit for his contribution to the work named after him?

These might be quite naive ideas on my part or at the very least warrant some additional discussion; however, if you (and other members of the board) agree, it would be great to see this category!
