Leader keys don't work with unsaved buffer

Installing the plugin works for examples in the source distribution but if I start typing into an unsaved buffer `\o` ignores the leader and just drops into insert mode as if I just typed the `o` key. I don't know how to change this from memory but figured I'd drop a note since I thought the plugin was broken at first.
