Annotations and iiif not working or forming manifest.json

I have been trying to play around with the annotations feature but keep getting this error message:

I can see that it is not forming a manifest.json file, but I am not sure if this is a cause or symptom of the problem! any advise much appreciated!

Hi @solar-wave, I'm not sure I've seen this particular error before. In the command link, can you run quire info --debug and share the output here? We can then try to replicate the issue on our end and suggest a solution. Thanks!

If I start a new quire project and add the relevant files/info it creates a manifest.json and previews as expected.
However, I have tried doing the same to two other projects already created and am getting the same message I posted above. So I can just migrate to a new project if this is just a problem with older instances?

I think the issue here is that your system is running newer versions of both Node and the Quire CLI (22.20.0 and 1.0.0-rc.33 respectively) than your project was originally created with and its running into some backwards compatibility issues. Because we've done quite a bit of work lately to improve Windows support in particular, I think your best path forward is to migrate the content to a new project as you suggested.

That said, for you or for others reading this who don't want or aren't able to migrate, the other thing to try would be running the project with the version of Node and the Quire CLI that the project was originally created with. You can determine these versions by looking in the .node-version and .quire files inside the project. One trick with this is that switching versions of Node, especially going to an older version, is not always straightforward unless you already happen to be using a version manager like nvm.
