Yes, there are plans. However, video recording is fundamentally different and requires a lot more flexibility, so it's not something we've prioritized yet.
For example, video transcoding, more compression settings, resolution and FPS settings are more relevant (photo capturing doesn't provide as much native control on ios).
We are very happy to consider an MVP PR for this! As small as possible, something that records "standard" resolution/fps video and stores it in a temporary file.
