WebSockets support?

Hi! I'm looking to embed an IRC server within my website, and wondering if there are any plans to implement WebSocket as a transport? It's an IRCv3 extension: https://ircv3.net/specs/extensions/websocket

I have no plans to integrate IRCv3's websocket transport into ircd-base, but you're welcome to contribute it and I'll merge if it works. I didn't implement websocket because this library is primarily a means to add IRC support to existing chat systems, and not as a general web chat solution.

If you want a custom web chat with websocket in JavaScript, I'd say your simplest option would be to make something with Socket.io.

If you don't need custom logic and just want a standard IRC server that works with websocket, my go-to is Ergo, which I've been using for a long time with KiwiIRC's web client. It has built-in IRCv3 chat history and the ability implement custom authentication with scripts, so it can take you pretty far.
