Partial loss of functionality: elevation lookups not working

Calls made by GpsMaster to MapQuest to insert elevation data are no longer honoured since the API has been shutdown. See this thread for more info: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/74800230/did-mapquest-shutdown-their-elevation-api

Is there a workaround or can another service be used?

It looks like https://portal.opentopography.org/apidocs/ provides USGS1m, USGS10m, USGS30m and SRTMGL1 data, which are good enough for this ? It requires a user API key though... https://opentopography.org/usageterms
